Immigrating to Canada?
Consider Manitoba's Central Prairie Region as one of your options.

The Manitoba Central Prairie Immigration Team is a group of individuals representing each of our communities, here to assist you with any questions you may have and to provide you with information regarding this area. We have created this website to prepare you for immigration, and to help you discover what we have to offer. We love living here, and think that you will too.

The region is located in one of the most scenic areas of Manitoba, in central Canada. The rolling hills surround rivers, lakes and streams which provide hunting and forms of recreation during all seasons. Whether you like to golf, ski, snowmobile, ATV, canoe, fish, bird watch, or paint, the landscape provides the opportunity to do all of this and more.

The economic foundation of the region is agriculture. Fields of wheat, canola, flax, barley, or sunflowers stretch as far as your eye can see, and represent just a few of the crops which can be grown here. Speckled among them are lush green pastures, full of grazing cattle, horses, buffalo, or sheep.

As the land was broken and settled so many years ago, the residents needed food, medical and farming supplies, banking services and transportation. All of those services have expanded into the multiplicity we enjoy in our communities today which offer you a variety of employment opportunities and career choices. The second largest industry in our region is health care for which nurses, doctors, health care aids, dieticians, housekeepers, laundry operators and maintenance workers are badly needed.

Our communities are small, the open spaces vast. Our residents are culturally diverse, friendly, and respect each other's differences as they go about their daily business. Our crime rate is low, as neighbours tend to watch out for neighbours, along with the excellent policing services provided by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). There are no street gangs, drug lords, or other forms of danger which would prevent you from taking a walk on a warm summer's eve, or crisp winter afternoon. It's safe to let your children play outdoors, or to walk alone to school or a friend's house to play.

Your children will enjoy our high standard of education, including French Immersion at Notre-Dame-De-Lourdes, and a 50/50 français/anglais school (sometimes referred to as an "immersion program") in Somerset. Along with basic education they will enjoy the sports, music and trade programs offered by our school divisions, and can choose from many more sports, arts and music programs offered by those kinds of organizations after school hours.

There are also organizations adults may join, which is a great way to get to know the people of your new community and help you to feel at home.

You will enjoy our healthy clean air, and our slower paced, uncomplicated style of living. Quality housing is available, with related taxes being quite low in comparison to larger centres.

We invite you to explore this website, our communities' websites, and to contact us with any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can, and would like nothing better than to help you settle here.
